In Memory of DOUGLAS CHADWICK

Douglas Chadwick

1952-2023

It is with a very heavy heart that I am writing to tell you of Doug’s passing. Doug was a wonderful, kind, and gentle soul. He was a great friend and everyone enjoyed meeting up with Doug each year at LOG.

Doug first came to Lotus, Ltd., in 1987, when Will Burnham saw one of Doug’s locomotive panoramic photos at a friend’s house. The event co-chairs of LOG 7, Will and Bill Baldwin, decided to invite Doug to Watkins Glen to do the first panoramic photo for that year’s concours. It was such a success that Doug came back every year since then.

For all the early years of LOG photos, Doug used a civil war-era Cirkut Panoramic camera. Operated by a wind-up spring, it was really a great thing to watch operate. And Doug was a master at its operation.

Doug was also a Lotus guy. He was a longtime owner of a white Lotus Elan Sprint and, more recently, the owner of a green Lotus Elise. Doug never brought his Elan to a LOG because he could not fit his Cirkut Panoramic camera into the boot of his Elan.

We’ll miss you, Doug. More than we could ever possibly express. You’ll live on in the friendships, stories retold, and photography adorning our walls for many years to come.
